Ellen White says, when the four winds were almost loosed but then restrained, radical Islam will be stirring up the nations to one deadly combat.

"I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels... saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. Rev. 7:2, 3. Four mighty angels are still holding the four winds of the earth. Terrible destruction is forbidden to come in full. The accidents by land and by sea; the loss of life, steadily increasing, by storm, by tempest, by railroad disaster, by conflagration; the terrible floods, the earthquakes, and the winds will be the stirring up of the nations to one deadly combat, while the angels hold the four winds, forbidding the terrible power of Satan to be exercised in its fury until the servants of God are sealed in their foreheads. Angels are holding the four winds, which are represented as an angry horse seeking to break loose and rush over the face of the whole earth, bearing destruction and death in its path... While their hands were loosening, and the four winds were about to blow, the merciful eye of Jesus gazed on the remnant that were not sealed, and He raised His hands to the Father and pleaded with Him that He had spilled His blood for them. Then another angel was commissioned to fly swiftly to the four angels and bid them hold until the servants of God were sealed with the seal of the living God in their foreheads." My Life Today, 308.

The "distress of nations" is today caused by Islam just as it was in 1840. Ellen White wrote, "The nations are now getting angry..." {Mar 258.1}, and, "I saw that the shaking of the powers in Europe is not, as some teach, the shaking of the powers of heaven, but it is the shaking of the angry nations." {CET 111.2}. In the same time frame as the signs in the sun, moon and stars (1780 and 1833) it was Islam, under the Ottoman's, that made the nations of Europe angry. Luke 21:25 places the distress of nations in this time frame (1780-1833), "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations..." Then, on August 11th 1840, the four European powers came together in a "coalition of the willing" to decide the fate of Islam, and it was that which ended the 2nd woe, thus restraining Islam.

"November 13, 1833, there was the most wonderful display of falling stars ever beheld by men. Again thousands believed that the day of judgment had come. Since that time earthquakes, tempests, tidal waves, pestilence, famine, and destructions by fire and flood, have multiplied. All these, and "distress of nations, with perplexity," declare that the Lord's coming is near." {SJ 176}

And so, as the final events took shape from 1833, readying for the Lord's coming before 1888, so we see a similar repeat of the same pattern today. Just as Islam caused the distress of nations under the 2nd Woe, so too do they cause the distress of nations under the 3rd Woe. Rev 11:14-18, "The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly... And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged..."

Ellen White said, "the winds will be the stirring up of the nations to one deadly combat" My Life Today, 308. Islam began to stir up the nations when the 3rd Woe began on Sept 11th, beginning the angering of the nations. So the angering of the nations will eventually result in one deadly combat, when, "his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him" Gen 16:11. Radical Islam will stir up the nations, and the world will come together against Islam in a Third World War. This is when the 4 Winds are no longer restrained and finally, The Four Winds are Loosed
